Since our childhood, we were told that we have to win against all odds in life. If that is the case, what is the key to victory when you feel struggling? What is the attitude you should have when falling hard on the ground?
There was a saying that a man’s true character will be revealed in defeat. I believe it will also be revealed in a victory. Somewhere in the world, there is a defeat for everyone. Some are destroyed by defeat, and some made small and mean by victory. Greatness lives in one who triumphs equally over defeat and victory. In the art of war, if you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the approaching battles. But if you know only yourself and not the enemy, for every victory, there will also be defeat.
Victory is not defined by wins or losses. It is defined by effort. If you can truthfully say, “I did the best I could, I gave everything I had,” then you are a winner. When you are feeling stressed, and you keep going over and over the same problem in your mind, with no solution, take action. Do anything to remove your energy from the issue. You will find that when you are proactive, your mind will become clearer, solutions will arise, and you will feel more self-confident. Free yourself from feeling like a victim and become victorious instead. Abandon the idea that you will forever be the victim of the things that have happened to you. What differentiates victors and victims are visions and vigour. Victims won’t get the vim to step out of their situations. Choose to be a victor. Mind you, victory is not an event but a process.
What is it you dream of?
How far will you go?
To show the world your greatness
So everyone will know
Will you go the distance?
Will you pay the price?
Learning all the lessons
And heeding good advice
There are no guarantees
No tricks and no sure thing
There is simply strength and passion
That defines what hope may bring
It is when it comes together
The perfect turn of fate
When strength pushes us forward
To enter victory’s gate
In reading the lives of great men, I found that the first victory they won was over them and self-discipline with all of them came first. It brings you a strong first impression of such great figure: He/she will definitely succeed in the future! Regardless of how you feel inside, always try to look like a winner. Even if you are behind, a sustained look of control and confidence can give you a mental edge that results in victory. It is impossible to win the race unless you venture to run, impossible to win the victory unless you dare to battle and impossible to survive unless you are fearless against bullets. The ultimate victory in competition is derived from the inner satisfaction of knowing that you have done your best and that you have gotten the most out of what you had to give. The world’s greatest achievers have been those who have always stayed and focused on their goals and have been consistent in their efforts.
If you have a dream, don’t just sit there. Gather courage to believe that you can succeed and leave no stone unturned to make it a reality. You don’t get strong by standing at the finish line; you get strong with every step you take to get there. Accept the challenges so that you can feel the exhilaration of victory. If you believe in yourself and have dedication and pride and never quit, you will be a winner.
Victory is the child of preparation and determination. Don’t let mental blocks control you. Set yourself free. Confront your fear and turn the mental blocks into building blocks. You can’t attack the giants in your life if you are not aiming to strike and hit the target. You can’t run a race in vain if you have no plans to win or finish it. The only way you are going to be defeated is if you allow your brain to shut down your body. If you stop making progress, you are damned. Start, strive and aim high and never give up. Your best is yet to come.
To some life is a complaint, to some, it is a competition and to some, it is a conquest. The smell of the sweat is not sweet, but the fruit of the sweat is very sweet. Don’t wait, just sweat. Who you are tomorrow begins with what you do today. Tomorrow’s victory lies in today’s practice.
